Dear All,

It is finally here! Governor Jennifer Granholm signed into law House Bill No. 4207 removing the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) Qualifying Examination in the State of Michigan. The signing took place at the Governor’s Ceremonial Office at the State Capitol in Lansing, Michigan today, June 14, 2007 at 9:25 AM. Representative Hopgood who introduced the Bill was present to witness the signing. Representing the Philippine Nurses Association of Michigan are PNAM President Ellen Dioso and CGFNS Task Force Chairperson, Remedios A. Solarte. Please see attached photos!

Please pass this on to your friends and families who are interested to come to Michigan! They can now apply to take the National Council Licensing Exam (NCLEX) without the need to pass the CGFNS Qualifying Examination.

Sincerely yours,

Remedios A. Solarte, MSN, RN, NP
Chairperson, PNAM CGFNS Task Force
